Video: Claude Robinson – copyright is a creator’s “bread and butter"
Monday, January 1, 0001
In a new video released today, author and illustrator Claude Robinson invites us to his studio to discuss why copyright is a vital tool that allows creators to focus their efforts on creating.
Robinson speaks from the heart. His words are informed by his 20-year legal fight with entertainment company Cinar Corp which ended when the Supreme Court of Canada, in 2013, affirmed an earlier ruling that Cinar had plagiarized Robinson’s work in creating Robinson Sucroe.
Robinson stresses that illegal copying is an act that directly impacts creators and their ability to secure a stable living.
The video was produced by RAAV, the Quebec visual-artists organization, in collaboration with Access Copyright, COPIBEC, SARTEC and UNEQ.
