Michael Crummey named the inaugural Writers’ Trust Fellow

Monday, November 30, 2015

St. John’s author, poet and AC affiliate Michael Crummey was announced as the first Writers’ Trust Fellow at the organization’s annual black-tie Gala on November 25.

The Fellowship was established by the Writers’ Trust in celebration of Canada’s sesquicentennial in 2017 to give writers who have produced an impressive body of work the freedom to focus on and continue writing. Crummey is the first of three Fellowships the Writers’ Trust is planning to award.

With the Fellowship, Crummey receives $50,000 as well as a two-week residency at the Banff Centre.

What better to celebrate this honour then hearing a little from Crummey himself about what drives him to write and create.
