Thursday, August 28, 2014
The City of Halifax will be receiving a vital boost with the opening of its new Central Library later this fall.
Totalling over 125,000 square feet, the Halifax Central Library captures the many facets of the modern library: a book and media archive, community centre, meeting place and research facility integrated with its physical and cultural surroundings.
The new Central Library features many modern amenities, including meeting rooms, a 250-seat theatre, a rooftop patio, cafes, music studios as well as a substantial boost to the city of Halifax’s library holding. The library’s outside facade is designed to look like a bookstack, will be accessible to all and boasts environmental touches such as a green roof.
The Globe and Mail recently featured a piece on the library along with some encouraging news about the continuing vitality of our public library system. Check out the piece here.
