“Skills development and growth is so important to ensure that Canada’s creative community can grow and thrive,” said Foundation chair Paul Seesequasis. “I am pleased to see the Foundation make another important investment in professional development.”

In total, $60,000 in grant funding was allocated by the Foundation. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over 300 Professional Development Grants totaling approximately $600,000 reinvested in Canadian creators, publishers and organizations that serve them as well as published Canadian works.

Access Copyright Foundation grants are awarded through a peer review process administered by SK Arts on behalf of the Foundation. Jurors for the 2024 Professional Development Grant program were Sally Ito, writer (Heart's Hydrography (Turnstone Press)) and translator, Phoebe Tsang, writer (Setting Fire to Water (Thistle Press)) and violinist and Shoshanna Wingate, author (Radio Weather (Véhicule Press)).
