“I am pleased that the Foundation has been able to support an astonishing array of projects that will enrich our cultural life in Canada as well as internationally,” said Foundation chair Paul Seesequasis. “This is an investment that will repay itself many times over.”

The Foundation’s Marian Hebb Research Grant program is one of the few in Canada that provides grant funding to facilitate deep research, including travel, for publishable works of resonant and authentic fiction and non-fiction as well as to help build and enhance programs that support Canada’s creative community.

“I am extremely grateful to the Foundation and SK Arts as a recipient of the Marian Hebb Research Grant which will fund my research for an upcoming illustrated non-fiction book,” said author Joyce Grant. “This grant will support the intensive research this book will require. Now I can delve into it, knowing I have a safety net.”

In total, $140,000 in grant funding was allocated by the Foundation.

Access Copyright Foundation grants are awarded through a peer review process administered by SK Arts on behalf of the Foundation. Jurors for the 2024 Marian Hebb Research Grant program were Annahid Dashtgard, author (Bones of Belonging) and CEO of Anima Leadership, Jason McBride, a freelance writer whose work has appeared in publications such as Toronto Life, Maclean's and The Walrus, and Rhea Tregebov, poet (Talking to Strangers0, novelist and children’s author.
