Access Copyright Has Released the 2026 Payback Payment

On October 8, Access Copyright distributed the 2026 Payback payment to eligible creator affiliates.

For those who receive royalties from us by direct deposit, please allow up to two business days after October 8 for your payment to show up in your bank account.

For those who receive royalties from us by cheque, please allow up to two weeks after October 8 for your payment to arrive in the mail.

Who were eligible to receive the 2026 Payback payment?

All writers and visual artists affiliated with us by December 31, 2025 were eligible to receive the 2026 Payback payment.

What does the Payback payment consist of?

The Payback payment consists of two parts:

• A base payment, representing 40% of the royalties distributed annually via Payback, that is shared equally among eligible creators. This year’s base payment is $64.12.
• A supplementary payment, representing the remaining 60% of the royalties distributed annually via Payback, is based on how much eligible creators have contributed to the repertoire of works Access Copyright can license and is only distributed to those who have submitted a Payback claim reporting their published output.

What does the Payback payment represent?

Access Copyright’s annual Payment payment is sent to eligible affiliates in recognition of the contribution they make to the repertoire of copyright-protected works we are able to license.

How to access details on the 2026 Payback payment

For those receiving the Payback payment, a distribution report is available in your online portal account. To review the report, please visit the Creator Portal and log in with your username and password.

If this will be your first time logging in to the Portal this year, you will need to first set a new password for your account by selecting the Forgot your password option and following the prompts.
